Dear Parents and Families,

We have had a fantastic start to the school year! The energy, excitement, and smiles from our students have filled the hallways, and it’s been a joy to see them reconnect with friends, meet new ones, and jump right into learning. Our staff has worked hard to create welcoming classrooms, and it’s clear that we are off to a strong beginning.

As we look ahead, we are excited for another great week next week. There are many engaging lessons, activities, and opportunities for students to shine on the horizon. We appreciate your continued support in helping your children arrive ready to learn, try their best, and embrace each day.

Below, you will find some important informational items for your review.

Thank you for sharing your children with us. We are looking forward to all that we will accomplish together this year! Have a Great Weekend!

Sincerely,

Adam Fender

Car-Rider Drop-Off and Pick-Up

  • Students can be dropped off at KMS on the North side (Board Office side) of the building as early as 7:15am, where they can enter through the cafeteria doors. They will be supervised there until 7:30 am, when they are released to enter the building. If the student is dropped off at or after 7:30 am, they can enter the cafeteria doors, the main office doors, or the main gymnasium doors and proceed to their lockers. When dropping off in the line of cars, please be very cautious of your surroundings as students are crossing the lanes at the crosswalks.

  • When picking up your student, please park in the main lot between KMS and the Board Office and wait for your student to come out of the building. 6th and 7th-grade students will be dismissed from their last period class and will proceed to the parking lot on their own to find their cars. 4th and 5th-grade students will be walked in homeroom groups by teachers to the sidewalk outside of the building and released to their cars when appropriate. There will be many additional staff members directing traffic and assisting students across the lanes to get to the parked cars. We must work together to be diligent and safe throughout this process.

Bus-Riders

  • Bus riders will enter the building at 7:30 am on the South side (Tennis Courts) of the building and will board the buses in the same location at the end of the school day. 6th and 7th-grade students will be dismissed from their last period class and will proceed to the bus loop on their own, while 4th and 5th-grade students will be walked by homeroom groups. Additional staff members will be assisting with this process.

StopFinder

  • Kenston Parents/guardians, a reminder if you haven't already, please sign up and be ready for buses to roll with the Stopfinder App. Stopfinder enables parents and guardians to accurately track their children’s school buses in real-time. The user-friendly app is secured, ensuring that only authorized users can access school bus information. It functions as a two-way communication tool, providing parents with a convenient way to receive notifications instantly, and can be customized to your alert preferences. To receive your invite, please email transportation@kenstonapps.org

  • Lunch Menus - Nutrition Services Director, Andrew Mendez, has prepared a delicious Welcome Back to School Menu. The District Menu has been released. Click here to find the menu.

Safety on Campus

  • As a general reminder, the safety and well-being of our students and families remain a top priority. With several updates and changes to building traffic patterns as well as drop-off and pick-up procedures, and many new families joining the district, we kindly ask for your cooperation in keeping our campus safe for everyone.

  • Please be mindful of your speed while driving on campus. If your student is driving to school or after-school practices, take a moment to talk with them about the importance of slowing down and following all posted traffic patterns and safety guidelines.

4th and 5th Grade Specials Schedule

Homerooms will follow an A,B,C,D,E Schedule for specials as opposed to being assigned to a specific special on a specific day of the week. For example, Homeroom Smith will have:

Art on "A" Days

P.E. on "B and D" Days

Tech on "C" Days

Music on "A and E" Days

This schedule allows for equity in attending our special's classes throughout the school year and students do not miss specials due to holidays or cancellation of school. The schedule is predetermined and is posted here. In the event of a calamity day or an unscheduled cancellation of school, letter assignments will move to the next day school is back in session. For example, if tomorrow is a "B" Day but school is canceled due to weather, the next day that school is in session becomes a "B" day and the following day's schedule is adjusted accordingly.

Teachers will review this with their students and we will communicate the concept of this schedule early and often.
