Science:   Our discussion of weather factors concludes with an open note test on chapter 2 concepts. Our focus will shift to what causes weather and how to stay safe in a variety of weather situations. Keep an eye on the skies to see if you can identify cloud types and incoming weather. Check your predictions with the daily weather reports.

Social Studies: Rome is falling!! Well, only half of it. Old Rome has fallen to the Germanic barbarians, but the Byzantine Romans are thriving. We are discussing how the empire fell and the lasting effects it had on the world. The student newscast projects were very good and full of great information and creativity!

8th Grade
ELA - Our students are continuing with our short story unit and working on characterization, essay writing, providing textual evidence, and comparing fiction with nonfiction. We also moved forward to the next lesson in our Greek and Latin vocabulary workbooks reviewing synonyms, antonyms, suffixes, prefixes, and words’ origins. IRP’s are due in December.

Social Studies - Students have been busy working on preparing to teach the class next week! They are working in groups and are preparing a creative visual to express one of the many laws Britain put on the colonies. They also are preparing an informational handout that covers the important information of this law or event and the effects it had on the colonists as well as Britain.  Group work skills have been emphasize all week. The kids have worked very hard!
