Matthew 6:10
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
This is the prayer that our Lord Jesus taught His disciples, to pray for the Kingdom of God to be established on earth and that His will would be done.
It's important that this prayer becomes a reality in the life of every believer.
Each believer needs to know God’s will for his or her life. Some believers say that they do not know the will of God for their life. First, in the scripture, we know the general will of God, but each believer must know the specific will of the Lord for his or her personal life. This comes about through prayer and relationship. Not because someone tells you this is the will of the Lord for you, but let it be a conviction of what the Lord has revealed to you. Many may have a good intention, but that good intention will not fulfill the will of God for you, because it is personal. Personally, I know the will of the Lord for me. I do not have any doubt about it.
You must find out what is the will of the Lord for you, this is why it is important to establish a personal relationship with the Lord through prayer along with studying the word, and through the Holy Spirit, the Lord will reveal His will for you.
Do not go around asking others about the will of the Lord for you.
Remember, the Holy Spirit is your teacher, who dwells in you.
John 16:13-14 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.
We have to follow the example of our Lord Jesus; He knew the will of the Father and He did it. He did not allow anything to detour Him from fulfilling God’s will, no personal ambition, no man’s agenda, or fear of men.
John 6:38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.
Matthew 26:39 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”
John 4:34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.
Jesus came to do the will of the Father. We as sons and daughters of God, and disciples of Jesus, must do the same.
Philippians 2:13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
God works in us by the Holy Spirit to will and do, this is the work of the indwelling Holy Spirit in our life, always helping us to do God’s will.
Remember, the Holy Spirit is your helper; we must yield and obey.
John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—
Colossians 1:9 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
Is important that the believers have a clear knowledge of God’s will for their lives, to avoid any misunderstanding, being misled by others and avoid unnecessary hardships.
1 John 2:15-17 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.
17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.
Do not allow the things of this world to keep you from fulfilling God’s will.
