CHRISTIAN LIFE STUDY GROUP ORGANIZES AGAIN FOR 2021!

It is fall—Cooler temperatures, shorter days, falling leaves, good books for stimulation and discussion! King of Glory’s Christian Life study group begins again for the 10th year and welcomes people who enjoy stimulating and, sometimes, provocative reading. The group meets the first and third Mondays of the month at 1 PM usually via Zoom and occasionally in person in the Bethlehem Room.
First meeting of the season: Monday, September 20 at 1 PM via Zoom.
First book: Jesus and John Wayne by Kristin Kobes Du Mez.

This book reveals how American evangelicals have worked to replace the Jesus of the Gospels with idols of rugged masculinity, mythical warriors and rugged individuals like John Wayne who assert white masculine power in defense of “Christian America”. The key to understanding this transformation is to recognize the role of culture in American evangelicalism and how these values have transformed faith.

If you’re interested in pursuing this discussion: Purchase the book and read at least the first six chapters. Contact Mary Rickerd for Zoom link information.

The Centennial defense created four turnovers to snap its 12-game losing streak.

Yay for Fabrice!!!

Sundays for Undies!
Days for Girls is a non-profit organization that
helps girls stay in school and retain dignity,
giving back important days of their lives. Most girls in developing countries miss school during their periods; many eventually drop out. We can do something about that by empowering girls, women, and communities through providing access to sustainable feminine hygiene, as well as menstrual health management training.

You can help us keep girls in school by bringing a package of GIRLS underwear to Church.

Fruit of the Loom - 8, 10, 12 and 14
Hanes - 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 5S
Wonder Nation (WalMart) - 12, 14 and 16
Preferably not white but there are usually 1-2 of those in a pack and we will dye them. Bright colors. No explicit words please.

WELCA QUILT-IN & General Meeting
Many greetings to all women of King of Glory! You are invited to a Quilt-In to be held on Saturday, September 11th from 10:00 – 3:00 at King of Glory. The quilters have been furiously working to create beautiful quilts and have many, many tops that need to be batted, backed, tied and bound so that they can be shipped around the world through Lutheran World Relief.

This very fun event, so please mark your calendars and plan to attend this time of fabulous fellowship where you don’t need to be proficient in sewing. You may want to come to see how the quilts are put together or take some squares home to sew. Whatever your interest/ability level, “Many hands make light work” and we are anxious to see you there. There will be no lunch supplied by the church. Instead we ask that you bring a sack lunch from home to enjoy during our General Meeting.

If you have any questions please contact Patty Larson or Nicki Tompkins.

Thank you,
Your WELCA Board
