Larson to retire after more than 25 years of service to PPI


After more than two decades, PPI Director Nancy Larson is retiring. Under her leadership, PPI has grown from just three staff members to ten, and her work has supported countless Kansas businesses while helping to improve the environment. Assistant Director Arthur Fink will assume the role of director in 2025. Nancy will be missed, and PPI will not be the same without her.


Thank you, Nancy, for all you have done for PPI. Cheers to retirement!

Apply to be an intern host company

Any business, industry, facility or entity located in Kansas can host an intern if viable pollution prevention projects have been identified. The internships last 11 weeks and the intern is assigned to work 10 weeks at your facility. 


For companies that only have one or two projects or aren't ready for a full-time intern, there is the circuit-rider option. A circuit-rider intern typically visits six to eight industries and focuses on one or two projects per company.

CE690, a three-day course that covers real-world strategies to reduce industrial pollution is available to take for professional development hours. Online hazardous waste training


Hazardous waste handlers are required to complete training annually, and new employees must be trained within six months of taking a position that requires they handle hazardous waste. This training needs to be documented and maintained for at least three years. PPI offers online training that includes a certificate of completion for $50 per user.
