The Emporia Area Business Conference is a one-day event, organized by the Human Resource Professional Association of Greater Emporia (HR-PAGE), and designed to keep business owners, managers, and human resources professionals up-to-date on the ever changing world of work. The conference is July 10

From Workplace Violence to A New Normal - Lamar Roth of Excel Industries
Lamar was Director of HR at Excel Industries when 4 employees were killed in a shooting at the plant. He continues in that role today. Lamar will review the experiences right after the event up to the present and will explore recommendations and lessons learned.

Prior to engaging in the practice of law, Melody served 6 years on active duty in the U.S. Army and 20 years as a law enforcement officer. Melody counsels and advocates for private and public-sector employers in all aspects of employment litigation and traditional labor law.
