Canada’s largest Indigenous Youth conference is coming to Kamloops March 18-21, 2025! The BC Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres is looking for volunteers to help make Gathering Our Voices 2025 a success.

Volunteers must be:

• Over 18 years old

• Able to commit to a minimum of two shifts

• Able to provide a clean criminal record check

• Looking to contribute to a fun and exciting event for Indigenous youth

Volunteers share their skills, passion, experience, and they send youth a powerful message — that they are worthy of our time and energy. Volunteering at GOV is a great way to gain new skills to add to your resume and meet new people! Volunteers are also invited to BCAAFC’s Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on March 19.

JOIN KMBA'S UMPIRE CREW!

We are excited to host both Level I and Level II annual umpire clinics on Saturday March 8th. We invite everyone who would like to ump this year to attend. We are recruiting both adults and youth to join the team, it's never too late to learn!

Being an umpire is a great way to earn money, while working outside and giving back to youth baseball. We offer free training and mentorship with experienced umpires including two Level IV nationally certified umpires.

How to get started:

1) BCBUA MEMBERSHIP REGISTRATION - Cost is $35 or $65 depending on age.

2) TAKE THE ONLINE CLINIC - self directed course to be done at your own pace. Highly recommend completing this before attending the in-person training. *toggle on the 'Online - Recorded/On Demand' button to find the clinic

3) IN PERSON CLINIC - to be held at the Sussex Insurance Facility on McArthur Island. Clean indoor shoes are required. If you are unable to attend the Kamloops in person clinic, you will need to find another clinic elsewhere to attend.

Level I - March 8th @ 9am

Level II - March 8th @ 1pm

(This is the offense portion of Level II, we offered defense last year and will offer defense next year)

--> Clinics are free to take as long as you have paid for your 2025 BCBUA membership

--> If the Spordle link take you to a french page, please look in the top right hand corner to toggle on english, if that's your preferred language.

If you have any questions or concerns please reach out directly to Margaret-Jean, 23willis@telus.net, UIC & BCBUA Representative.

YKA NOW, THE NEW 'ONE STOP SHOP' FOR ACTIVITY REGISTRATION IN KAMLOOPS

The Kamloops Sports Council has launched YKA Now (ykanow.ca) as a ‘one-stop shop’ for registration in Kamloops. The new registration platform will act as a simplified solution to the community’s registration conundrum from TRU Wolfpack tickets to local events such as Boogie the Bridge, soccer practices, dance classes, and art socials.

Fostering sports, art, culture, and events, YKA Now allows the community of Kamloops and beyond to discover, register, and stay up to date on all their activities on one common platform. YKA Now strives to highlight and promote a lifestyle of sport, art, culture, and events; while providing and facilitating an effortless one-stop shop for Kamloops at no cost to the host organization.
