Honors Scholar and Kennesaw State University Athlete to Pursue Medical School
Ji Lee graduated Magna Cum Laude from Kennesaw State University (KSU) in December of 2018 with a Bachelor's of Science in Biology and a concentration in Pre-Professional Medicine.
As an Honors Student, Ji participated in numerous research forums. She completed a research undergraduate experience at the University of Georgia in the summer of 2017 and presented her Molecular & Cellular Biology research at three separate conferences: The 2018 National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR); The American Society for Microbiology (ASM Microbe); and the 23rd Annual Symposium of Student Scholars at Kennesaw State University.

In addition to her phenomenal undergraduate research efforts, Ji participated in several internship, volunteer, and mission opportunities during her time at KSU. She regularly volunteered at Kennestone Hospital and even took her education abroad on two separate occasions. Ji participated in a medical mission trip to the Philippines in 2016 and completed a three week medical internship in Thailand in 2017.
Complementing her academic excellence, Ji Lee found success in Collegiate Sports. In 2015, she helped Kennesaw State University reach the NCAA Division I ASUN Women's Lacrosse Playoffs, a first for the University. In 2018, she went on to win spring nationals with the KSU Rugby Team.
Upon graduation, Ji plans to work in a clinic while preparing for the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). In the near future, she plans to attend Medical School in hopes that she can reach her long-term goal of becoming an Orthopedic Surgeon practicing in Sports Medicine.

Honors Scholar to Pursue Graduate School
Jessica Smith, a December 2018 Honors Graduate of Kennesaw State University (KSU), earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology. In addition to being named on the Dean's or President's list during each semester of her attendance, Jessica was an active member of the Honors College at KSU. She was also a member of Phi Eta Sigma, Psi Chi, and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Societies.
As an Honors student, she participated in the Montepulciano Summer Study Abroad program, which afforded her the opportunity to immerse herself in an international learning experience. In 2018, she also traveled domestically and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity as part of the Honors Alternative Spring Break experience.
She plans to pursue a Master of Arts focused on Middle Grades Education. She remembers the "confusing years" of middle school and says that it was during this time in her life that she learned of her true passion for education, ultimately leading her to KSU. She hopes to inspire middle school students in the same way.
As Jessica prepares for the next phase of her life, she has reflected on her time in the Honors College and said, "
The individuals whom have made the greatest impact on me during my undergraduate career have been the directors, advisors, professors, and staff within the Honors College. The sense of camaraderie and the familial bond amongst the students and staff within the Honors College is unparalleled. The small class sizes, which allowed for a more intimate learning experience, provided an opportunity to sit amongst (and be mentored by) the brightest minds at KSU."

Honors Student Takes First Place in Debate Tournament
Honors student
Allison Yates has recently been named Vice President of The Jack Haley Speech and Debate Team at Kennesaw State University (KSU). In December, the team attended their first debate tournament since 2015, where Allison and her partner, Kelsey Theisen, went undefeated, placing first in the British Parliamentary style debate. In addition, Allison took home the first place Individual Speaker Award.
Allison has loved her time in the Honors College at KSU and said, "The Honors College at Kennesaw has provided me with my new group of best friends, teachers that want education to have a meaningful impact on my life, and opportunities for a better experience here and in the future. I deeply appreciate the impact of the Honors College on my life and the excitement it brings me to be a part of it."
After graduation, she hopes to attend law school and become a corporate lawyer.
