KSU TAB and Tribal TAB are so excited about this year’s Tribal Lands and Environment Forum (TLEF) taking place in Eugene, Oregon August 12 through August 15. We look so forward to this remarkable event every year and 2024 is no exception! Tribal TAB is a proud sponsor of this event and members of the KSU TAB team and Tribal TAB will be there presenting, exhibiting, participating in the Multi Media Meetup, and learning from all the exceptional Tribal Environmental Professionals. Make sure to stop by the Tribal TAB booth and visit with us during the week. We'd also love to see you in our sessions:
Adventures in Data Story-Telling: Using Practical Geospatial Tools to Map, Inventory, and Enhance Your Program
- This full-day pre-conference hands-on workshop takes place in the Wilder Room on Monday, August 12, from 8:00am to 5:00pm. You will learn how to visualize your sites on EPA mapping platforms, how to use BiT Mobile in the field to collect site data, and how to view SHP files on Google Earth so that you can access historic imagery and add your own content without having to purchase software. Make sure to bring a computer, smartphone, and your own brownfields data and be ready to have some fun!
Climate Change Impacts on Brownfields: A Case Study from Golovin, Alaska
- This 45-minute session takes place on Wednesday, August 14, from 11:15am to 12:00pm in the Sousa Room. Tribal TAB will join our partners and friends from Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) and Kawerak, Inc. to share how climate change has exacerbated the impacts of contaminated sites in Golovin, Alaska, and how the Tribe utilized Tribal TAB resources and expertise in their response to these impacts, especially those from 2022 Typhoon Murbok. We'll share examples from a May 2023 visioning event and a brief video highlighting the significance of one particular brownfields site. Perhaps you'll be inspired by ways in which Tribal TAB can help your community address impacts on your brownfields from climate change.
