Dear Valued Members,

Welcome to Christmas? It seems that we just skip Thanksgiving as there is Christmas music playing already. KTAC is not going to start until December so please do not come in humming Jingle Bells! Our decorations will also go up in December. We will be open from 8am to 12pm on Thanksgiving Day and regular hours on Black Friday. Come in for that pre-turkey burn Thanksgiving Day. 

The Halloween Carnival was a huge success with over 350 people coming in the 2-hour period. Thank you to all who volunteered! This is one of our community events that reaches so many families. They were so appreciative as they came through the carnival stations and the smiles on the children’s faces were unmatched. If you haven’t volunteered at one of these events with us and want an instant “feel good,” there’s always next year. Thank you to everyone that donated the candy and small toys and helped stuff all of those goody bags. So many!

The Kitsap cup was played at KTAC on October 20, and it was a battle! Bainbridge kept the Cup again but not by a large margin. We will be announcing the dates for next year’s battle at Bainbridge soon. Please contact the front desk at 360-692-8075 if you are interested in playing in the next Kitsap Cup.

The roof replacement is complete with only minor interruptions. Thank you for your patience with the short pool closure and parking changes. We will be good for another 25 years. The next small project is a small roof repair in the back of the building where our old HVAC system used to be. This is a storage area and there should not be any interruptions for this to be fixed. 

The hot tub is still being checked for leaks. We have had some small ones that require part replacements. We do not want to rebuild the enclosure around it until we are absolutely sure we have it right. This has been such a long process; COVID had it shut down for almost two years. After it sat all of that time, the minor problems we had before became major ones. Please keep faith that we will open it soon. 

There will be some changes coming for 2024. We are currently working on the budget for next year and everything is going up, including minimum wage again. We are well aware that you will also be feeling some of these increases so KTAC will be mindful of how we adjust. We will be letting you know as soon as we have everything mapped out. 

I really enjoy seeing all of you, in the office, on the courts and in the facility. Please do not be strangers, and I really mean that as I would like to meet all of the new members. Take care of yourselves.

BIRC Retains Kitsap Cup!

The Kitsap Cup is the premier tennis event contested between the Kitsap Tennis & Athletic Center (KTAC) and the Bainbridge Island Recreation Center (BIRC). The Kitsap Cup competition is a mixed doubles match pitting 2 lines of 8.0, 7.0, and 6.0 doubles to earn the right to hold the prestigious Kitsap Cup. On Oct 20, 2023 BIRC swept the 2023 Kitsap Cup Series 3-0.
