Residential Volunteer Positions Available Friday, October 25, 2019

Karma Triyana Dharmachakra is a Tibetan Buddhist Monastery located in the beautiful Catskill Mountains just above the town of Woodstock, NY, and steps away from Overlook Mountain's Trail Head. As a Residential Volunteer , you have the opportunity to learn and practice Buddhist Teachings within a community of fellow practioners. Residential Khenpos, Monks and Lamas are readily available for guidance and questions. KTD is The North American Seat of His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje. Being a Residential Volunteer at KTD Monastery is of great benefit to others and will give you access to teachers and programs, and a chance to deepen your understanding of the Dharma while serving His Holiness' guests and staff.  Residential Volunteers are required to offer 25 hours of service weekly. All Volunteers share dorm space and are provided with 3 vegetarian meals daily.

Current Volunteer positions are available in the Kitchen and Housekeeping.

KITCHEN    Duties include preparing food as directed by the Kitchen Manager for up to 75 people. In addition, keeping counters tops, shelves, dry storage, and walk-in refrigeration clean well organized, maintain clean floors and clean up pots and pans used to cook the meal. All meals served at KTD are vegetarian and exercise “Do No Harm To Others”

HOUSEKEEPING    Duties include preparing guest rooms as directed by the Housekeeping Manager. Making Beds, cleaning floors, cleaning bathrooms, dusting and maintaining necessary essentials are part of the job, as well as cleaning the main floor bathrooms and stairwells, hallways and occasional laundry. The ability to lift up to 30 lbs. is required as the job can be rigorous. The position is shared between other housekeeping volunteers.
