Remembering a Master: Prayers for Bardor Tulku Rinpoche
This week, pujas have begun in honor of Bardor Tulku Rinpoche, one of the founding lamas of KTD Monastery, who passed into parinirvana on April 1, 2021.
During the 49 days after the passing of a dharma master, pujas and prayer services (called gondzok, or “fullfillment of the guru’s wishes”) are recited for the benefit of the master’s future rebirth and dharma activity.
At Bardor Rinpoche’s Kunzang Palchen Ling Center in Red Hook, NY, lamas began reciting pujas from the Barway Dorje lineage tradition this week. Also, following His Holiness Karmapa’s advice, beginning Monday April 12, KTD Monastery will undertake weekly pujas in honor of Bardor Rinpoche.
Based on the recommendation of His Holiness, KTD Resident and Karme Ling Resident lamas will do these pujas in honor of Rinpoche:
- Amitabha
- Akshobya
- Vajrasattva
- Vairochana
- Shi Tro
- Pema Vajra
- Gyalwa Gyamtso (Red Chenrezik)
In addition, at His Holiness Karmapa’s request, some of the KTD and Karme Ling resident lamas will join with lamas at KPL to perform specific pujas for Bardor Rinpoche.
Note: both Karma Triyana Dharmachakra Monastery and Kunzang Palchen Ling continue to be closed to the public.
The pujas at KTD will not be webcast, but we encourage our dharma friends to tune into the daily webcasts from Kunzang Palchen Ling and to make donations to KPL to support their daily pujas.
May all be auspicious and may all beings benefit. Karmapa Khyenno!
