There's unmistakable heart that connects with the listener in all of Paul's work. When describing this unique vocalist,

two opinions are repeatedly expressed by both critics and contemporaries,

“passionate storyteller” and “one of the best male jazz vocalists since Mark Murphy.”

“His mannerisms are disarming because he is so believable.

He sounds real.“ – Jazz Times

“Amazing sound, conviction, soul, lyricism, swing, groove, love and a hope for a better tomorrow. Not many people can give you all that in one song. Well, Paul Jost gives it to you in one measure.” – Orrin Evans/Pianist

"CSG & Friends: New Songs"

As a long-time pro jazz singer (60 years of experience!)

I have a LOT of songs that I know.

But I don't get to sing all of them!

So I decided that I'm going to do a monthly gig at Kulak's, with a great revolving band (I know a bunch of great musicians!) and we're going to investigate new songs and old ones that are lonely in my book!

The musicians will bring some too, just for them.

Interested to see how pro's develop material?

Come on in and watch the fun!

Woodwindist NICK GOMEZ & vocalist MARIA SCHAFER

Nick Gomez is a woodwind player and recording artist from Upland, California who performs with Cold Duck, Poncho Sanchez, and Breakestra in addition to leading his own jazz small groups. His debut album, “Patience”, was released on all streaming platforms in March 2023.

Vocalist Maria Schafer warmly welcomes jazz listeners swiftly into the 21st century with her polished, soaring vocal style and easy, empathetic charm. Driven by an inquisitive passion for self-discovery through song, Ms. Schafer's sensitive and uncontrived approach to jazz "stands out among the current crop of jazz singers (Jefferson Public Radio)" and is "just the right tonic for jaded jazz ears (Midwest Record)."
