Morning Scramble

Wednesday, 9-noon

The Three Amigos Scramble

It's a weekly stampede of semi-coherent brilliance brought to you by Luke, Rick, and The Big Kahuna: three seasoned minds with more opinions than filters.

📻 Broadcasting live from the bustling metropolis of Vashon (population: goats), this trio tackles life’s big questions—like why your toaster hates you, and whether socks are just foot prisons—with wit, wisdom, and the occasional accidental insight.

💡 It’s three hours of “Wait, what did they just say?” followed by “Actually… that kind of makes sense.” Whether you’re laughing, crying, or Googling half the references, just remember: we’re not being paid, so lower your expectations accordingly.

Tune in, zone out, and embrace the scramble. Because sanity is overrated—and we’ve got the radio time slot to prove it.

Rolling Wave

Wednesday, noon-2 PM

Mike Saunders

The September Rolling Wave show is dedicated to our dear friend, Mike Saunders, who passed away on August 21st after a long illness. Mike was a great friend over the years and, along with Mark Graham, Dale Russ and others in the band “No Come All Ye,” introduced Celtic music to Kat and myself when they performed at Sound Foods in the ’70’s. Mike eventually moved off the island sometime in the ’80’s, settling in Gig Harbor with his lovely wife, Gigi. For this show we dug through the archives for CDs that Mike made or performed on, as well some of his contemporaries, including Jerry Holland, John Renbourn, Mary Jane Lamond, and finish with a brand new Scottish political rallying song that Mike would have endorsed. Thanks for listening, and thanks for supporting VoV.

Boogie Back to Texas

Wednesday, 6-7 PM

Cryin' Eyes

An impending visit to the eye doctor caused Boogie Back host Geoff Fletcher to recall a show he did on eyes and their major product, tears, a while back. Tune in to hear some blues from Sue Foley and heartbreak pain from Jon Dee Graham, Guy Clark, The Derailers, Jeffrey Martin and Merle Haggard. More pain, but some pop show up from Sheryl Crow and the Zac Brown Band. A classic from Willie, drama from Roy Orbison and k.d.lang and Doyle Bramhall with a cover of a classic round out the show. It is a fine listen.

More James for the Brown Funk Month

For those of you who love James Brown’s funky music, or those who are up for a good ol’ Brown refresher, it’s a show filled with some classics and not so classic. The Best Of The Rest Of, you might say. All guaranteed to be funky, as you hoped. You’ll hear tunes like Cold Sweat, Can’t Stand It, I Got Ants In My Pants, My Thang, The Spank and that classic It’s Too Funky In Here, to name most of them.

And be sure to visit the show page this month as the assortment of shows there will feature some of James Brown’s biggest disciples…ya know…Boosty, Maceo and Fred! Like the TGIF Show, we’re all working to keep that funk alive!

And the best part?!? You can do it any time. It’s the best fun you’ll have with your clothes on…or safely at work!!

Sunday Silence

Sunday, 11 – midnight

Etymologies

This episode of SUNDAY SILENCE explores the desires woven into the tissue of our words—those strange, beautiful, sometimes terrifying forces that bind and undo us; a meditation, a lingering: on radical longing, on possession as presence beyond ownership, on the gateways the curiosity of our passion opens between us. From the ecstatic vulnerability of devotion, this hour is a love avant la lettre—a gesture, not a demand—dedicated to the you that calls us back, again and again, to find, to be found. Featuring Fuya Fuya & Entrañas, Mica Levi, and Areliz Ramos.
