2021 Year in Review
2021 President’s Year in Review

It’s a great time to look back at the last 12 months and reflect on what we have been able to accomplish. 2021 was a year like no other. We learned to train and meet virtually. We adapted to doing things differently. We worked more remotely and relied on technology more than ever. We also experienced one of the craziest real estate markets ever, with very low inventory, very high demand and huge jumps in value. A large influx of out-of-state buyers added to the demand and drove prices higher. Will it continue into 2022? So far, all signs indicate another busy year in the Rhode Island residential real estate market.

While the housing market was so busy, your Kent Washington Association of REALTORS® board was very busy as well! I look back and can say I’m proud of the professional way we were able to provide education, networking events, fundraising and community services. Our committees worked hard to reach goals. Community outreach assisted in the construction of a home for South County Habitat for Humanity. We also cleaned beaches and helped construct a pedestrian bridge in Wickford. Our programs committee planned some great events including the President’s Fundraiser at Yawgoo Bakes and Barbeques, where we raised $6,500 for our charities South County Habitat for Humanity and Be the Change/Project Hand-up. The Education Committee provided Lunch and Learn sessions and with our staff provided training for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.

I’m also proud to say that KWAOR pledged $6,400 towards the Realtor Relief Foundation. The Foundation was formed just after 911 to help both our members and the public in times of need.

Our Professional Standards and Grievance Committees were busy answering the call of helping to maintain fair and professional practice throughout our Association. We called upon members to give their valuable time to sit on special panels to assist in hearings. It’s nice to see members step up and be there when you need them. I’d like to thank all of the committee chairs and members for their efforts this past year.

I can’t say enough about our KWAOR staff. Our CEO, Linda Arcouette, is a passionate and dedicated professional who, along with Carol, Kathleen, Lisa, and Tiffany, work hard to make sure things run smoothly. I can assure you, you are part of a fantastic association of over 2,100 members!

I’d also like to acknowledge our fantastic leadership. I feel very privileged to have served as President of this great association with the help of dedicated members with goals and vision. We are in great hands with our new President, Bill Fain, and President-Elect, Crystal D’Agostino. I thank them both for all of their assistance and input during my presidency. The best is yet to come. Your leadership is committed to providing the best services to our members.

I would also like to thank all of you, our membership, for entrusting me this last year as your 2021 president. I’m honored to have served this role!

I wish you all a happy, healthy & prosperous 2022!

Yours truly,

Greg Eccleston
