President's Message

Dear fellow Realtors & Affiliates,
I want to thank you all for your support on the “Call to Action” earlier this month with regards to the proposed Newport Conveyance Tax on buyers. The proposal was an additional 2% tax on the sale of property in Newport to be paid by the buyer. Ridiculous right? Realtors took notice and voiced their concerns and it was tabled by lawmakers. We will keep a watchful eye should it resurface. THAT’S WHO WE “R”.

A huge shout out and kudos to our Realtor Volunteers who took part in the Red Cross “Sound the Alarm” initiative on May 11th. A force of hundreds of mindful volunteers set out to install smoke alarms throughout the state. This program is free for the public and all volunteers are committed to the safety of Rhode Island residents. Check out the impact:  Realtors are community advocates and make a real difference.

Success! Our Education Committee has been putting together a series of interesting and engaging programs for the entire membership. The last class was new and interesting for Realtors, a take off from the T.V. show, "Hoarding, Buried Alive". Our program gave useful tactics to both listing and buyer agents on how to broach the 'hoarding' topic with compassion for their clients. It was well received by all who attended. Be on the lookout for the next program.

Do you like to laugh? What kind of question is that? Of course you do! Let’s all get together and laugh while helping the Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Warwick at our Funny 4 Funds summer gathering on Thursday, June 27 th at Valley Country Club. The Programs Committee has a slew of fantastic raffles, the mood will be hilarious, and our Realtor and Affiliate Members will be doing good and having a great time too! Register today, bring a friend or seven. It’s sure to be a comical night.
Thank you all for being GREAT, keep it up!
