Volume 347 | October 2024 | |
Dear Neighbors,
Please join me in welcoming Paul Janzer to the KWPOA Board of Directors. Paul grew up in Wisconsin and graduated Stanford ('05 BA, Political Science) and then joined Facebook as their ~30th employee. After a decade at Facebook, he spent close to five years at Airbnb. When the pandemic hit, he left to spend more time with his young family. He met his wife Christina in college and she has an equally impressive career: after spending that same decade with Paul at Facebook, she is now at Slack. They are raising their three children in Kent Woodlands — ages 9, 7, and 5, who all attend Bacich. He's told me that he and Christina love the views, seclusion, and natural surroundings of the neighborhood. They successfully went through our architectural approval process for rebuilding their home, which they moved into in 2017. Paul is looking to fill some extra time he has in his schedule by giving back to the community in what he's called a "truly one-of-a-kind neighborhood" — and I couldn't agree more. Thanks in advance to Paul for his volunteer service, and I hope you all join me in welcoming him!

The annual Kent Woodlands Halloween parade and celebration will occur on Thursday, October 31st from 5:00—7:00 pm!
We’re going to try a slight change this year based on feedback from families with younger children, and limit our street closure to the long block from Goodhill to Evergreen. This will tighten up the area for more of a block party feel, as well as provide easier alternate routes for residents.
The parade will begin at 5:00pm sharp, led by an engine from the Kentfield Fire Department. Our Sheriff Deputy will be on hand to enforce our street closure. Trick-or-treat tables will be set up along the parade route and we'll continue the celebration with food and beverages for kids and adults outside at the home of the Ryan family at 125 Woodland Road (on the corner of Evergreen).
Remember, Woodland Road will be CLOSED between Goodhill and Evergreen from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. For safety reasons, no e-bikes or electronic scooters allowed!
I strongly encourage folks from all over Kent Woodlands and of all ages, whether they have children participating in the parade or not, to host a treat table along the parade route! All it takes is setting up a small table and passing out candy. Please contact us at info@kwpoa.com to sign up or if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Jeff Leh, President

We want to take this opportunity for thank everyone that participated in the Green Home Tours last month! This self-guided tour featured a range of inspiring homes, each highlighted a variety of ways of homes can be fossil-fuel free. We learned about heat pumps, battery back-up systems, geothermal, planted roofs, rainwater collection systems, and ended with cocktails at a beautiful hillside estate. If anyone who couldn’t make the event is interested in receiving a booklet, let us know.
Carbon Neutral Kent Woodlands is an all-volunteer committee formed in February 2023, to bring meaningful change on fossil fuel reduction right here in the neighborhood we love. An important part of our project is participation in our annual survey published every January; this provides an annual snapshot of household emissions right here in Kent Woodlands. It will launch next month, so please be on the lookout for the anonymous survey. Thank you in advance!
And if you still haven’t checked out the ASK PETE section of our website, feel free to reach out with any specific questions you might have in your own carbon-neutral journey!
