President's Note

Hi Neighbors,

You will notice several thoughtfully designed and placed bike racks have recently been installed in our Acorn lot. I'd like to thank Rock Road resident Taylor Gilland, who privately funded the purchase and installation and board member and architect Ghigo DiTommaso who worked with Taylor to determine the placement and spacing for best use with minimal impact. KWPOA members should feel free to enjoy them and reach out to info@kwpoa.com should any issues arise.

I also wanted to take the opportunity during this month's newsletter to share some information about the new COM building that was recently finished — and the ability (and encouragement) for Kent Woodlands residents to use the facility at no cost. Some have called it the “living room of the COM community”. The building itself is referred to as the Center for Student Success (CSS) — in it there is a Pink Owl Coffee cafe.

After years of construction impacts, traffic disruptions, and patience from all of us, the result is a thought-fully designed, light-filled space that reflects the College’s commitment to both students and the broader community.

Recently, the College’s president hosted Woodland Sponsors—our neighborhood social, philanthropic, and educational women’s group—for a behind-the-scenes introduction to the new building and its vision.

Beyond the building itself, the College offers a wide range of classes and amenities for adults and lifelong learners. Offerings include specialized courses in the arts, computers, health, and languages, workforce training, and over 28 clubs—from opera and bridge to philosophy. The campus also features a full fitness center with physical fitness and wellness classes such as yoga, meditation, and specialized water workouts including Aqua Yogilates. A newly renovated community pool will be opening soon and will be available to anyone who signs up.

Community members are encouraged to stop by—whether to soak up the sun on the terraces, enjoy the views of Mt. Tam, grab a coffee, explore the library, or take advantage of the many educational and wellness opportunities now at our doorstep. For more information on classes, programs, and community offerings, visit the Student Services office located in the former Union Bank building. Designed to “serve the whole student,” young and old alike, the Center for Student Success is also serving something larger: a stronger, healthier, and more connected Kentfield community.

Many thanks to Woodlands Sponsor member KWPOA's Vice President Bitsa Freeman for this great info...and here's a recent article with pictures and additional details: www.marinij.com/2026/02/03/college-of-marin-unveils-82m-student-center/.

Sincerely,

Jeff Leh, President

See a Problem? Want it Fixed?

Marin County has launched a new online/mobile tool for residents to report and track common issues!

FixItMarin allows residents to quickly report common non-emergency issues such as potholes, illegal dumping, streetlight outages, fallen branches or trees, and missing or damaged street signs on public property in unincorporated areas of Marin County (including Kent Woodlands). Requests can be submitted online at marincounty.gov/how-do-i/fixitmarin or via the mobile app (see below), with the ability to add photos, share locations, and track updates as the County works to resolve the issue.

  • Illegal dumping, such as furniture, mattresses, tires, or trash
  • Streetlight outages or damaged streetlights
  • Fallen branches or trees blocking roads or sidewalks
  • Flooded roadways
  • Missing, damaged, or faded street signs
  • Safety or maintenance issues in parks and open spaces
  • Unpermitted construction projects

3. Choose the type of issue you want to report

4. Add details, photos, and the location

5. Submit your request

6. Track updates in real time as the County works on it

Important Safety Reminder: FixItMarin is for non-emergency issues only. If there is immediate danger to life or property, residents should call 911.

New Bidirectional EV Charging Program Launches in California

California homeowners now have an exciting new way to save money and boost energy resilience. A new bidirectional charging pilot from Wallbox and Bidirectional Energy allows eligible residents to power their homes using their electric vehicles — and earn incentives for supporting the grid.

The program, launching with up to 180 house-holds in California and Connecticut, enables vehicle-to-home (V2H) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) capabilities using Wallbox’s Quasar 2 charger and Bidirectional Energy’s virtual power plant software. Participants can draw energy from their EVs during outages or peak pricing periods and send power back to the grid when demand is high.

Incentives may significantly offset charger and installation costs, with additional annual earnings available through grid events. The result: lower energy bills, added backup power, and a smarter, more flexible clean energy system for everyone.
