Southern District Annual Meeting -

Recap

The joint Southern District & Missouri Valley District Annual Meeting in mid-April was a blast! Over a dozen KYSITE members traveled to Memphis for a 3 days full of exploration of downtown Memphis, meeting old friends, making new, and learning about the awesome things happening across 15 states! Kentucky's own Daniel Wyatt and Austin Obenauf presented on the technology that KYTC is using to prevent crashes and create a safe transportation network for all roadway users.

And a huge shout-out must go to the University of Kentucky Student Chapter! The Student Chapter fielded a team for the Traffic Bowl competition for the first time in years! Thank you for all the practice and preparation you undertook and for making the trip to Memphis to represent the University and the state of Kentucky.

KYSITE Committees

With the 2025 season of events already underway, the KYSITE Board is asking for volunteers to assist in the various Committees that make these events possible and successful. A brief description of our Committees is included below. If any member is interested in lending their talents, expertise, and time to any of the Committees, please reach out to the officers at kysite@itedsc.org.

Golf Outing Committee

The Golf Outing Committee is responsible for organizing the Annual Golf Outing which benefits KYSITE's William "Bill" Seymour Scholarship. Members of this committee identify sponsors, catering, and work with the Board to schedule and organize teams for the Golf Outing. Our committee has set the date of the Golf Outing for June 5th at Weissinger Hills Golf Course.

Community Service Committee

The new Community Service Committee is responsible for directing KYSITE's philanthropic efforts, so we can give back to the communities we serve as transportation practitioners. Committee members identify service opportunities, organize volunteers and schedule events with the Board.

Sponsorship Committee

The 2025 Board of Officers would like to start up a Sponsorship Committee to be a liaison between KYSITE and corporate entities. Members would facilitate Sponsorship opportunities and work with the other Committees to identify, contact, and manage relationships with corporate sponsors to help fund the Scholarship, events and training opportunities across the Commonwealth.

Student Engagement Committee

Our Student Engagement Committee is a vital part of KYSITE and the community of transportation professionals. They help facilitate conversations with Kentucky students and university faculty to attract and mentor talent. The Committee has successfully restarted the UK Student Chapter of ITE and is looking for alumni to aid in similar ventures at UofL and WKU.

Silent Auction Committee

The Silent Auction is a big part of the Annual Banquet and helps fund the William "Bill" Seymour Scholarship. The Committee coordinates closely with the Board, soliciting donations to and running the Silent Auction at the Annual Banquet.
