Kahlert Connect | December 2023
| |
Dear Kahlert,
Welcome to the first edition of the Kahlert Connect, where we bring you the latest developments in addiction medicine, ranging from educational opportunities to research findings. In this edition, we'll reflect on our first event, and share details about upcoming events and opportunities.
The Kahlert Institute for Addiction Medicine's Inaugural Fall Retreat took place on November 8 at the Grand Baltimore, with 78 participants from across University of Maryland campuses. The event fostered interdisciplinary collaboration among individuals engaged in addiction research, care, and education at the University to shape the Kahlert Institute's future trajectory.
Looking ahead to 2024, we have several educational opportunities scheduled. In January, Dr. Mathieu Wimmer from Temple University will be presenting on using multigenerational animal models of substance use. Our seminar series kicks off in February with a presentation by Dr. Lorenzo Leggio from NIDA on developing new pharmacotherapies for addiction. And last but not least, save the date for the Inaugural Research Symposium, taking place on May 6 and featuring keynote speaker, Dr. Margaret Haney, from Columbia University Medical Center.
Wishing you a happy holiday season and healthy new year!
