We Are A Thriving United Methodist Church
Friends,

People continue to ask me when are we going to reopen the church? Other churches in Sun Lakes are open. We need to open so we can be together again.

I know some folk are worshiping with other congregations until we reopen. I understand and am disappointed we are not yet able to open.

A task force finalized our re-opening plan this morning for submittal to the District Superintendent and the Conference Response Team for their approval. When we receive word our re-opening plan has been approved, we will move to the next steps. We have begun formulating what we will need in supplies and volunteers for re-opening. Watch for more information and a list of ways in which you can volunteer to help make this happen.

Our number one goal is the safety of our congregation and making sure we have in place procedures to keep everyone safe.

When we re-open we will have to wear masks, be limited in seating to maintain safe distance between people, and not socialize. Everything will need to be sanitized after being used, pews, restrooms, doors, etc.

Like you, I am waiting in frustration, disappointed to see the daily numbers increasing and wanting to getting back in worship with members and friends of this Church.

We will continue to provide a worship service on YouTube each week and invite you to participate. Thank you for your continued prayers and financial support.

VETERANS CIRCLE OF HONOR
"We owe them a debt we can never repay. All
we can do is remember them and what they did
and why they had to be brave for us. All we can
do is try to see that other young men never have
to join them. Today as never before, we must
remember the things that will continue the peace." - President Ronald Reagan, 11/11/85

Christmas shopping can be easy and safe. Order a handsomely engraved paving block for that special veteran in your life. For those who order early, these lasting blocks will be completed and installed in the Veterans Circle of Honor Monument before Christmas.
Order forms are available in the Church Office.
HLAA MEETING
Hearing Loss
Don't miss the next HLAA Sun Lakes chapter meeting this Thursday, November 12, 1:00 pm on Zoom.

Helen Tinsman, M.S.CCC-SLP, a Speech Pathologist and Outreach Specialist with Advanced Bionics will offer a presentation on Aural Rehabilitation. She is experienced in the field of hearing loss and has a wealth of information to share. She will discuss both computer and non-computer based options for rehab exercises to use at home to maximize success with hearing aids and cochlear implants.

Please email Ron Tallman at rontallman1@gmail.com who will send the Zoom invitation to you.
SURVIVING THE HOLIDAYS
There is still time to join “Surviving The Holidays."

The class is designed to assist those who may be struggling to make it through the holiday season following the death of a loved one. This might be the first holiday after your loved one’s death, or maybe the second, third, or beyond.

In the coming days you are going to face some tough emotions. Due to the nature of Thanksgiving and Christmas, with its focus on family, traditions, expectations, and “cheer” your emotions can blindside you. To lessen the emotional impact, know what to expect, and to be prepared don't miss this class. The tools you learn will enable you to not only survive the coming holidays, but also to face them with a measure of peace and assurance.

Surviving the Holidays will be offered this Saturday, November 14, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, online, via ZOOM. To register, stop by the Church Office and pick up your book ($5) that accompanies the class.
BAKELESS COOKIE WALK!
Christmas Cookies
Many is the time we’ve heard people say
I would rather give a “Dollar” than bake today.
and so we are asking you to help more or less
to make our Bakeless Cookie Walk a big success.
We’ve thought of a plan that’s really grand,
and feel quite sure you’ll understand.
In an envelope, if you like, please include the price
of cookies or candy or anything nice.

Unfortunately, we are unable to hold our annual United Methodist Woman of Sun Lakes Christmas Cookie Walk due to the Covid-19 virus. As this is our main fund-raiser for the mission work done throughout the year, we would be honored if you would help support this worthy cause. The mission projects are based locally, nationally, and internationally with help given to Hope Center for Women and Children, Justa Center, United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) United Methodist Outreach Ministries (UMOM), and Wesley Center. You may drop off a donation or send it via US Mail to: Sun Lakes UMW, % Sun Lakes United Methodist Church, 9248 E. Riggs Road, Sun Lakes, Arizona 85248.
Thank you and may God bless you!
MISSIONS AND TANZANIA
Last year one of our members visited the Children Concern Orphanage in Tanzania. She was so moved by their care for one another and surroundings she decided to get involved by helping to raise funds for various projects.

Once our Missions Team heard about this orphanage and what was going on they decided to help! The poultry project is to provide funds for materials to build a chicken coop and money to buy the chickens; allowing nutritious, healthy food for the children!
