A New Way to Refer: Protecting Identities with Ease

Protecting the privacy of vulnerable populations is crucial for maintaining trust and ensuring their safety. Exposing their personal information can lead to risks such as fear of retribution (e.g., deportation for undocumented individuals), safety concerns (e.g., for those experiencing abuse), and loss of autonomy (e.g., fear of surveillance). The goal is to create a safe environment where these individuals can access services without fear of privacy violations.

To ensure privacy and safety, folks should refer to the slides (slide 16) to understand how to properly refer individuals. If further guidance or clarification is needed, please feel free to email Lorena directly. We are also in the process of putting together a tool called to assist with this process.
