Sustainability at LWHS: November Update
The following Sustainability efforts are happening at LWHS:
  • The student-led Green Team has created a plan to reach Level 3 status in the King County Green Schools program (Level 3 is Water Conservation and Pollution Prevention);
  • The PTSA has adopted a Best Practice Guide to reduce waste as they plan events; and
  • School staff are composting in the staff rooms which is then used by the Urban Gardening class.

Join the PTSA and LWHS in its efforts! Here are some ways this month:
  • Volunteers Needed during lunches to monitor and educate students on what goes in the composting and recycling bins. If interested, email Pam Hay for dates and times.
  • Consider Best Practices to Reduce Waste as you plan your Thanksgiving festivities.
  • City of Kirkland’s STYROFEST is December 7 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm for collection of styrofoam and plastic bags (Kirkland residents only).
