Join the PTSA Board for 2023-24 School Year
Are you looking for an opportunity to get more involved at LWHS or help shape future events and programs at our school? LWHS PTSA will be electing new board members for the 2023-2024 school year and we’re looking for candidates who are passionate about PTSA’s mission of enhancing the educational experience of students for several critical Board roles and Committee Chair roles.
Open Board Positions:
Secretary
Treasurer
VP of Ways and Means
Open Chair Positions:
Advocacy
Communications
Hospitality
Membership
Senior Party
Special Needs Awareness and Inclusion
Student Directory
Student Recognition
Role Descriptions can be found here: LWHS PTSA Job Summaries.
If you’re thinking these roles sound daunting, perhaps because you’ve never served on a PTSA board or only have experience at the primary school level, don't worry! Our current board members–almost all of whom work full time–have actually found the time commitment to be very manageable. On average, three to four hours per month (sometimes even less) is all it takes.
Sound like something you’d like to try out for the 2023-2024 school year? Please email us at nomcom@lwhsptsa.org to add your name to our list of candidates or request additional info. We’d also love to hear from you.

Sustainability efforts are in full gear during Earth Week with the Green Team engaging students in contests that involve minimizing waste, while efforts continue behind-the-scenes to implement our new waste stations and food donation program during lunch. This program will launch next week and we need student help to make it happen!
If you know a student who wants to earn volunteer hours during lunchtime (one hour of time for every 30 minute shift!), please pass along this Signup Genius link or have them contact LWHS PTSA Sustainability Chair Stephanie Lecovin.
For more information about sustainability efforts or to get more involved, check out the PTSA Sustainability webpage.

From the Desk of LWHS Principal Christine Bell
Greetings Kang Families,
First of all, thank you to the twenty-seven parents who filled out the form requesting an opportunity to participate in Parent and Community Learning Walks. We can only accommodate the first fifteen parents on April 20, and the next group will be scheduled for May. Those parents scheduled for a Parent & Community Learning Walk will be notified by email. If you missed out on this opportunity you can always catch it the next time around.
If you want an opportunity to visit LWHS and would like a tour you can join us on May 18 from 6:00-7:30 pm when we welcome future freshmen and their families. All LW families are welcome to attend. We will have students from our National Honor Society, LINK Crew and ASB there to take families (future students welcome) around our campus to see the awesome things happening at LW. While there is no RSVP needed for this event, please plan to arrive early and bring water and walking shoes. Our PTSA will be on-hand with some snacks and water, but supplies are limited. In the spirit of sustainability, consider bringing a reusable water bottle.
As we enter this fourth quarter of our school year, I encourage you to practice self-care. Prioritize routines that center on your health and mindfulness, take time to relax with your teens and enjoy the moments that make each day count.
Are you already looking forward to the 2023-24 school year? You can see the tentative LWSD Calendar on the district website, at Tentative 23-24 LWSD Calendar.
As always, it is a pleasure to serve the community of Lake Washington.
Go Kangs!

Senior Celebrations Reminder
There are many celebrations scheduled for LWHS Seniors in May and June and many deadlines to track. The LWHS Senior Graduation Information and the LWHS PTSA’s Seniors: The Year Ahead webpages have celebration information in one place and are updated regularly.
There are also many expenses associated with graduation and senior celebrations. LWHS and LWHS PTSA believe that all seniors deserve to be honored for their years of hard work and to have the chance to celebrate this milestone. If you or your family is having difficulties finding funds for these expenses, please let your/your child’s school counselor know; there is assistance available for caps and gowns, Senior Party tickets, and more.

- Ticket sales end June 4, 2023
- All ticket purchases are non-refundable
