School

From the Desk of LWHS Principal, Dr. Christine Bell

Dear Kang Families,

Thank you to the PTSA and all the generous parents who contributed to our Staff Appreciation Halloween celebration! Your support truly made a difference for our team.

I want to share that our Associate Principal, Karen Barker, is working diligently to enhance our school safety protocols. We are refining our safety drills to ensure students and staff are as prepared as possible. Keeping our school safe depends on everyday habits, like safe driving around campus and encouraging students to “See something, say something.” We also remind parents that our administrative team and our counselors are available to support students in navigating any safety or personal concerns.

For those looking to stay informed, attending PTSA meetings is the best way to connect with our school’s activities and updates. You can check the LWHS PTSA website to see all of your opportunities to engage. Please consider joining our Kang Coffee Hour on Thursday, November 7th, from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. The meeting is on Microsoft Teams, so you can join from anywhere! Here is a link to join that Teams meeting.

A huge congratulations to our Theatre students for their outstanding production of Dracula — it was both captivating and delightfully eerie!

We’re also immensely proud of our students involved in fall sports and activities; their dedication and spirit bring energy to our school community. Do you want to highlight and celebrate your child's accomplishments at LW? You can do so using this link to the LWSD communications page. There is always so much to celebrate.

Thank you for staying engaged through ParentSquare messages, as our partnership with families relies on open and effective communication.

Go Kangs!

LW DECA Needs Volunteers for Dec 13/24 Competition

DECA, an internationally recognized club focused on business and marketing, is the largest club at LWHS. In order to compete in our December 13th Area 3 competition, we need volunteers to act as organizers, timekeepers, and judges. Area competition is the first level of competition that students go through. LWHS will compete against other LWSD schools as well as Northshore and Mercer Island School Districts.

LWHS DECA is required to bring ~80 volunteers in order to run the events that are assigned to us and for our 200+ student members to be able to compete in this first level of competition. You don't need any prior business or marketing experience to volunteer!

What: LWHS DECA needs volunteers for our Area 3 competition

Date: Friday, December 13th, 2024

Time: 7:15am - 2:00pm

Where: Meydenbauer Convention Center - Bellevue, WA

Why: Support and grow the next generation of professionals in the areas of marketing, management, finance, hospitality, and entrepreneurship.

Questions? Please see the attached flyer for more information. If you are interested in volunteering, please email Chase Fetters (cfetters@lwsd.org) and CJ Green (cargreen@lwsd.org).
