Pass The Pouch
The Lake Washington High School PTSA is more than meetings—it’s parents, teachers, staff, and students working together to enrich every Kang’s experience. Pass The Pouch is the annual fundraiser for LWHS PTSA and each year we depend on this fundraiser for our entire operating budget. We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization and could not exist or achieve our goals without the dedication of our volunteers and your generous donations.
LWHS PTSA invests nearly $60,000 annually to fill gaps in public funding in ways that enhance the experience of our students, teachers/staff, and community:
-
Students: $35,500+ in grants for classroom projects, clubs, enrichment programs, college prep workshops, scholarships, and practice SAT/ACT tests.
-
Teachers & Staff: $18,000+ for appreciation events and grants to enhance teaching.
-
Community: $6,000+ for programs and events that bring us together and create a strong school culture.
But none of this happens without YOU. Memberships and donations are our lifeline, and our annual “Pass the Pouch” is the ONLY fundraiser of the year.
Anyone—parents, grandparents, students, or staff—can join and/or give. Your contribution directly impacts our students’ education, health, and well-being. Please reach out to Susan Davis, Fundraising Chair, at fundraising@lwhsptsa.org with any ideas or questions regarding the use of donations.
Together, we can make a difference—thank you for your generous support!

Dear Kang Families,
Thank you to all of the families who joined us for Curriculum Night last week! Your presence and engagement help make Lake Washington High School a strong and welcoming community. We’re grateful for your partnership and encourage you to watch for more opportunities to connect with us — including upcoming Kang Coffee Hours and Parent Learning Walks.
We also extend a heartfelt thank-you to those who volunteer their time, donate to classroom “wish lists,” and supply our never-ending need for facial tissue. Your support directly impacts our students and staff every day, and we appreciate you more than we can say.
E-Bikes on the Rise: Safety First for Our Students
We’ve seen a noticeable increase in the number of students riding e-bikes to and from Lake Washington High School. E-bikes are a convenient and environmentally friendly way to travel, and while this growth is exciting, it also comes with responsibilities.
To help keep everyone safe, we’re asking students and families to review these important safety measures:
- Wear a properly fitted helmet every ride.
-
Follow the rules of the road. E-bikes must obey traffic signals, stop signs, and pedestrian crossings.
-
Ride predictably. Stay in bike lanes where available and signal turns.
-
Slow down in congested areas. High speeds can surprise drivers and pedestrians.
-
Walk your bike on campus sidewalks. Bikes should be walked—not ridden—on sidewalks and walkways to keep pedestrians safe.
-
Lock your e-bike securely on campus. Use sturdy locks and park in designated bike racks.
-
Keep entrances and walkways clear. Bikes parked in front of doors can block emergency exits and create fire hazards.
-
Stay visible. Use front and rear lights, especially in low-light conditions.
Because of this increased use, we’re partnering with our PTSA to source additional bike racks on campus. This is truly a “good problem to have” and we’re excited to support our students’ healthy and sustainable transportation choices while keeping our school safe.
Thank you for partnering with us to promote a culture of safety and responsibility.
Go Kangs!
