Your Donations Make a Difference Across LWHS!
Did you know there’s a little Pass the Pouch in nearly every corner of Lake Washington High School?
Thanks to your generosity, our PTSA supported more than $48,000 in grants last year, helping fund everything from a new sousaphone for the Marching Kangs and professional theater lighting to robotics supplies, classroom books, art equipment, and student wellness programs.
And that’s just the grants!
Pass the Pouch also supports staff appreciation, community events, emergency preparedness, and opportunities that enrich the experience of our students.
🎯 Our fundraising goal: $50,000
Every donation, large or small, helps us keep saying YES to the great ideas and needs of our school community.
💜 Remember to check whether your employer offers donation matching!

Dear Kang Families,
Wednesday, October 21, is PSAT/SAT testing day at LWHS. Students who are not testing should stay home and complete the second High School and Beyond Planning assignment in SchooLinks if they have not already done so. Students already have access to this assignment, and most completed it during homeroom/Roo Time last week. Please check in with your student about their plan for Wednesday and confirm that their assignment is complete.
As we continue cultivating community, I want to celebrate the many ways our students contribute to the strength and spirit of LWHS, including the incredible work of our student-athletes. Balancing schoolwork with practices and competitions takes dedication, perseverance, and careful time management. Our student-athletes bring leadership to our classrooms and teams, support one another, and represent LWHS with pride. We appreciate their commitment to both learning and athletics.
Importantly, I want to thank our PTSA for making Donuts with Dr. Bell possible. These gatherings give me the opportunity to hear feedback and ideas from a cross section of our student community. Last week, I asked students for concrete suggestions and examples to support the social and emotional learning goal in our School Improvement Plan. They responded thoughtfully and enthusiastically, leaving me with a long list of ways our school and classrooms can better support students’ mental health and social needs. Their insights will help guide our next steps as we continue cultivating a community where students feel connected, supported, and valued.
Go Kangs!

| | From the Counseling Department: Math Support Needed | |
Our Counseling and Math Departments are seeking community volunteers to provide additional math support for students at all levels, through AP Calculus.
We are looking for former math teachers, professionals with strong math backgrounds, or college students taking advanced math courses. We currently have a UW student volunteering who is also helping spread the word within the UW Math Department!
We would greatly appreciate any connections or recommendations from our community to help support our students! Please contact Kim Walters in the Counseling Office at kwalters@lwsd.org.
