Dear Friends,

This holiday season, we find ourselves at the precipice of a fight that’s been a long time coming. Anti-choicers have put abortion rights on the chopping block at both state and national levels. Now, more than ever it’s clear that access to safe, legal abortion depends on our LOCAL networks.

Here at the Kansas Abortion Fund, we need to share some of our work over this past year of challenges.

In 2021, we have so far helped fund the abortions of 349 Kansans in need.
Folks ranging in age from 15 to 45 years old,
They come from 48 of the 105 counties in our state.
Each person made their own deeply personal choice that deserves respect and support.

Abortion is common, safe, and normal. And yet, today Kansans are threatened with abortion bans, restrictions, and medically unnecessary laws that force the most marginalized people in our society into pregnancy. People struggling financially. People of color. Indigenous people, undocumented people, and LGBTQ people.

Forced pregnancy takes away a person’s constitutional and human right to control their body and their future.

The U.S. Supreme Court is considering abortion cases right now that will likely diminish or end federal abortion legality. On August 2, 2022, Kansans will vote on an anti-choice constitutional amendment right here in our state. The decisions of the high court and Kansas voters will have a tremendous impact on the availability of abortion where we live.

Amid this uncertainty and chaos, we are deeply grateful to those of who have made financial gifts to the Kansas Abortion Fund this year. Thank you!

For those of you who haven’t yet, please consider giving now. You will be so appreciated.

Stay safe and healthy, and enjoy your holidays--

Sandy Brown
President
