A Message from Head Coach George Adcock:
Blazers Families:

Welcome to the 2021-22 Kansas City Blazers
The first few weeks of the season have been great. It has been wonderful to see so many new faces and families, and we are all excited to have you as part of our team. From what we are seeing our athletes are having a great time learning and building friendships with their teammates. This weekend we are hoping to see some of their new skills in practice at the Ann Ketterer Meet. We do have an exciting season ahead, some great events: our BB meet and the Breast Cancer Fundraiser in October as well as our Swim-A-Thon. We hope you are all enjoying the season so far, we are looking forward to having you all on this journey with us!

Please keep in mind that it is still very early in the season and this experience is meant to launch our swimmers towards their goals by establishing their baseline for the season. Times are secondary at this point and allowing our athletes to receive valuable feedback, while getting to know their teammates, coaches and learning to take ownership of their swimming is what KCB is all about.

Blazer Performance Highlights
National's Evan Clark & Sam Peterson named National Merit Semifinalists!
Congratulations to Blazer National Team's Evan Clark and Sam Peterson on being named National Merit Semifinalists!
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®) announced that Evan and Sam were among 58 Blue Valley seniors named National Merit semifinalists and they represent less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors! They have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $30 million that will be offered next spring. To be considered for scholarships, the semifinalists must fulfill several requirements and advance to the finalist round of the competition.
This incredible honor is certainly attributed to the strong work ethic, sharp focus and consistent drive, demonstrated by both Evan and Sam, in and out of the pool! Well done, Evan and Sam!

Season Assessments

Do you have a friend interested in joining the Blazers? We ask all prospective swimmers to participate in an evaluation. This evaluation process allows our coaching staff to place swimmers in the appropriate practice group based upon their current skill and for their long-term development and success.

To be added to our waitlist for an individual evaluation appointment, please contact us!
Pre-Blazers Program

Pre-Blazers is our pre-competitive program designed to provide an introduction to competitive swimming through skill development and having fun! For swimmers ages 6 - 14 years old, who are water safe, have had swimming lessons and are interested in learning about competitive swimming. This program is offered twice a week and provides a bridge between lessons and competitive swimming.

Senior Prep

Our Senior Prep Group offers a broad-based training approach for athletes 13 years and older. The group's emphasis is on general conditioning along with technique work. This group is appropriate for swimmers, who enjoy competitive swimming, are interested in improving their skills and increasing their fitness for high school swimming or summer league.

Parent Corner
"Not every team offers travel trips, but if yours does, your kids will benefit from them. Team travel means swimmers travel to a meet or other activity that is planned or supervised by the team or LSC—without mom and dad driving and staying with their kids. [...] Here are eight things our kids may learn and enjoy by going on travel trips..."

Swim Meets: Why Team Travel?
KCB offers two team travel meets a year and this season we will have two opportunities for November! Team travel meets provide a wonderful opportunity for our team to bond as a unit, support each other through the shared joys and challenges that come with being a swimmer, allow our young swimmers the opportunity to take responsibility and ownership of their swimming and experience competition outside of MV Swimming! When you put in the work, it pays off in a big way. Every experience has value; to learn, to grow, and from which to gain strength. Relish in the small wins as much as the big ones, ask questions, fail forward,* and always remember to trust yourself, trust your coaches, and trust the process!
