The Kansas Infrastructure Hub (Hub) connects multiple state agencies to serve as a resource center for Kansas communities. The Build Kansas Fund can provide up to $200M in state matching dollars for eligible entities applying for an infrastructure-related grant program for projects in Kansas. The Hub also offers technical assistance to help communities apply for federal grants and maximize the amount of BIL funding in Kansas. | |

Message from the Director
As we approach the end of 2024, we want to say Happy Holidays and best wishes in 2025. The new year is bringing changes – that we are sure of right now. What those changes are and what the impact will be on the State of Kansas are the big questions everyone is asking. Our office gets asked this frequently. At this point, we do not have enough information that we can use to definitively say what impact the administration change will have on federal funding and on federal grant programs. What we do know is that, like previous transitions from one administration to the other, there will be delays seen as thousands of federal positions are filled and new personnel educate themselves about the programs and policies they will be administering. We will likely see delays in the publishing of grant program announcements, award selections, and processing of grant agreements. With respect to specific federal grant programs being changed to align with the new administration’s goals, that should be expected. As we go into the transition period in January, we will continue monitoring program changes, maintain communication with our federal partners, and keep our local partners in Kansas informed. Thank you.
– Matthew Volz, P.E., Executive Director, Kansas Infrastructure Hub

Partnership Highlight
Our work is significantly bolstered by a network of valuable partnerships with key organizations such as the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), Kansas Department of Emergency Management (KDEM), Kansas Rural Water Association (KRWA), and several other critical entities at the local, state, and federal level. These partnerships, alongside others, form the foundation for driving sustainable growth and positive change across Kansas. We are all working together to make the state of Kansas a better place to live and work.
Our partner highlight this month is the K-State Research and Extension Office. Through Nancy Daniels of KSRE, they tirelessly host grant writing seminars year-round across Kansas. The Hub attends all of them and we make great connections with communities and organizations throughout Kansas. The next seminars are in February in Kansas City (KS), Topeka, and McPherson. See our calendar of events for more information on how to sign up.
