President's Message
Our 2020-2021 program year is in full swing. We are hosting a series of webinars on ethical communication and providing participants with a wealth of guidance to effectively communicate in a virtual environment, not to mention the scores of networking opportunities. This month, Robin Gilliam, an Assistant Director for the Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board, continued the series with an insightful presentation on ethical communication through storytelling. Next month, on March 10, 2021, we will have another guest speaker to dive deeper into the ethical communications discussion. So, save the date!
As you know, IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) is one of the largest and most respected associations focused exclusively on advancing the management accounting profession and providing publications to keep members informed of cutting-edge ideas and techniques. Recently, IMA issued, The Impact of COVID-19 on the Finance Function which examines the impact of the pandemic on finance functions around the world. Also, the February issue of Strategic Finance Magazine has an interesting article, AI for Decision Analysis. The article discusses using artificial intelligence to maximize decision-support capabilities. I encourage you to review both of these thought-proving publications.
Over and above the publications, IMA provides webinars that bring you the latest thought leadership and developments in the profession. Visit the Education Center for over 50 webinars that are eligible for NASBA CPE credits every year and are free to members. You can also access free Webinars On Demand packages that allow you to earn CPE credits at your own pace.
While you take advantage of these and other benefits of IMA membership, don't wait to encourage others to join IMA and our local chapter. The web site https://www.imanet.org/membership/benefits?ssopc=1 describes many of the benefits you may wish to share with others. I also urge you to inform students on how IMA membership enhances their resume and builds a great networking platform. You can share the information found at https://www.imanet.org/students/student-membership?ssopc=1
Speaking of networking and enhancing your skills, our chapter leadership team has opportunities for you. We have projects that will allow you to engage with other members and build your project planning and presentation skills. There is no reason to hesitate about joining our chapter leadership team. You will be able to build your professional network while helping others achieve their professional goals. Just contact me at President@imanationscapital.org.

Thank you for your support of our IMA local chapter and participation in activities!
