Dear Members,
Thank you for your support and, please, for renewing your membership! Our chapter remains one of the largest for our Global IMA network!
Our recent survey responses were generally favorable of our activities. A suggestion: rotate days of week for events. We will continue the 3rd Wednesday of the month for March 15 and April 19, both at the Rosslyn Holiday Inn, but yes, this is an idea to better serve our members!
Thank you for attending our events and encouraging others to get to know IMA nationally, and here in the Washington DC area.
If you have ideas for future events, speakers, topics, and / or locations, including an opportunity to make a presentation at your place of business or with another professional organization, please email me at
[email protected]
. Together we can do more!
Hope to see you February 15th for our dinner meeting at The University of Maryland University College (UMUC), Largo, Maryland! Thank you.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Sobieralski

Student Leadership Conference
Nearly 600 students, representing more than 100 schools from 34 states and several foreign countries, participated in November's
Student Leadership Conference
in Detroit. This record-breaking event helped propel IMA's student membership past the 18,000 mark.
"CMA -- You've Got to Earn It" Commercial
The launch of IMA’s attention-grabbing “CMA-- You’ve Got to Earn It!” television commercial in the fall
enerated a lot of buzz, and has already created a surge of interest in the CMA program. Over 6,000 new candidates have enrolled in the program since July. At year-end there were over 24,000 CMAs, with more than 30,000 candidates in the pipeline— an 18% increase from the previous year, and the highest number ever. Building on their initial success, the commercials returned to the air in January with an expansion to 10 broadcast markets, including New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco (regrettably, not Washington). They can be seen on a number of late-night television shows, on CNBC’s Shark Tank, and on streaming services such as Hulu TV and Pandora. You can view the commercial on
YouTube
. The complete campaign includes radio spots, print ads, and digital media. YOU can help leverage this important initiative by sharing the ads on social media and promoting the CMA through word-of-mouth marketing.
