President's Message
“The start of something new brings the hope of something great. Anything is possible.” (Unknown)

The month of March has introduced new opportunities for Nation's Capital Chapter members. First of all, I am excited to announce our first virtual social event, Game Day! on March 27, 2021 from 3pm to 5pm. It will be an occasion for fun and games, and a time to simply take a break from our daily challenges. So, register today! Also, IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) Global has announced some new, no-cost webinars for members and we have highlighted them in this newsletter.

IMA also issued the results of its global salary survey. The survey delves into the unique factors of 2020 and how the changing economic landscape impacted IMA members across the globe. Read IMA’s 2021 Global Salary Survey in the March issue of Strategic Finance Magazine.

Next month, on April 14, 2021, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm, we will continue our discussions on Ethical Communications with a free webinar. The webinar will feature a panel of six experts who will help us confidently navigate the various communication challenges in our dynamic world. Save the date so you won't miss this event.

As always, take a few moments to encourage others to join IMA and our local chapter. The web site https://www.imanet.org/membership/benefits?ssopc=1 describes many of the benefits you may wish to share. I also urge you to inform students on how IMA membership enhances their resume and builds a great networking platform. You can share the information found at https://www.imanet.org/students/student-membership?ssopc=1

Speaking of networking and enhancing your skills, our chapter leadership team has opportunities for you. We will soon nominate officers for the 2021 to 2022 program year and we have projects that will allow you to build your network and your project planning and presentation skills. Just contact me at President@imanationscapital.org if you would like to serve and grow professionally.

Thank you for your support of our IMA local chapter and participation in activities!

In Case You Missed It
Ethical Communications Part 6:

Seeing with Two Eyes but Leading with Three
During our March 10, 2021 webinar, Joshua Vineyard, a Relationship Manager at 11th Hour Service, continued the discussion on ethical communications.

Joshua noted that as the baby boomer and Gen X generations shrink and Gen Y (millennials) and Gen Z become a more prominent workforce, communication ethics is becoming an even more important topic.

He also discussed how the nuances of communication, challenges in the ‘new-norm’ and the 3i model (Intention, Interaction and influence) can not only increase the value of a combination of words and sentences, but the effectiveness of others to receive that message.
