One Strategy for Writing a Book - or To Create Social Media Marketing

I am listening to the audio book version of They Ask You Answer. The author, Marcus Sheridan, tells his story of creating his social media marketing (and writing the book).
His technique really struck me because it's a really good way to write a book. In fact, I just advised a friend to use this technique with the book she's writing:
1) Write down every question you've ever been asked on the subject.
2) Write down your answer.
I used this technique for both The Small Biz Quickstart Workbook: The Ultimate Guide for First-Time Entrepreneurs (2020) and Publish Your First Book: A Quick Start Guide to Professional Publishing in the Digital Age (2011).
AND I completely agree with Sheridan that this is a great way to look at your social media marketing. I call it content marketing. There are several names to choose from. Another one is education marketing. Basically: Give people knowledge and they will come to you for more.
One of my favorite YouTube channels is Tom Lawrence's Lawrence Systems channel - https://www.youtube.com/user/TheTecknowledge/. I interviewed Tom for the SMB Community Podcast awhile back. He has gained over 150 new tech jobs in the last year because of his YouTube channel.
Of course he's been at it awhile. But the point is: He just talks about technology. People watch the videos and think, "Well, he's obviously good at this. We should hire him." And they do.
In our industry, I LOVE the fact that we have so many white papers, classes, and webinars available to us. Maybe too many webinars in the pandemic lock-down. But it's still good to have all this information as a first step to engagement.
How are you using content marketing to appeal to your prospects?
Remember, it's not about you: It's about the client. How do they solve this problem or that problem?

On the "first Thursday" of every month we have our community Roundtable. And I *always* get an email from someone who raves about the content and informs me that they consider it the best thing about our Community. |
Our September guest is Stephanie Chandler.
Stephanie is a LONG time friend, mastermind member, and co-conspirator. We have had several business ventures together, including co-authoring a book.
Stephanie is a great community builder. She built the biggest, best, most successful networking group on MeetUp in Sacramento. She actually gave it up because it got so successful that it was taking time away from here "real" job.
Stephanie founded and runs the Nonfiction Authors Association, the Nonfiction Writers Conference, and several training programs. But that's not her real job either. Stephanie's primary "gig" is publishing nonfiction books by authors who want to establish themselves at authorities in their field.
(Side note: In order to look for the URL for the Nonfiction Authors Association, I entered "nonfiction authors" in the Google machine, found the result below.)
She's an awesome entrepreneur, author of more than a dozen books, a community builder, and a very smart person to get to know. Don't miss this Roundtable!
