Greetings!
"The Best Laid Plans"
I took a weekend adventure to Hawaii. I wanted to see live lava flowing, and get some pix. I planned everything . . . except the weather.
First day overcast. The best photo was this bush.
I packed video and photo gear, and two tripods. Got a hotel not too far from the mountain. But next time I'll be much closer to the summit.
The plan was to be at the summit each afternoon until an hour after sunset. Day one, it rained so much you couldn't see a thing. Day two was the same, so I spend it hanging out on the beach. The Sunday plan was to get to the summit during the day when it's not raining. Might not be perfect visibility, but at least it wasn't raining.

I ended up spending five hours on the volcano. At least I now know that I can still walk a couple miles across lava. The lava was active for about fifteen minutes, so I had to do the best I could.

The only lesson when things go wrong: Make other plans! When something's out of your control, there's no point in whining or complaining. Every minute spent wishing it was otherwise is wasted.
And then make plans to do it the right way!
