A monumental stride has been taken towards achieving food security and agricultural sustainability in Kenya. The establishment of a new demo farm in Kasten marks a significant milestone for the community, offering practical training to 65 local farmers. This project aims to provide members of the Kasten Farmers Group with hands-on experience using modern farming techniques that will improve crop yields, promote sustainable land management, and push the community towards a future of self-sufficiency.
The land is now primed for a bountiful season, having undergone meticulous clearing, plowing, terracing, and fertilization all in preparation for planting seeds before the November rains arrive. The next steps will be hands-on training sessions that include modern planting techniques, soil fertility, crop rotation, water conservation, and more.
