I need your help, Kearney. I'm looking for community events to put in the I-35 North magazine calendar for the upcoming issues of April, May, and June . The American Legion is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans.

The Kearney Chamber was contacted this week by Army Veteran, Will Akin, looking for a sponsor or sponsors to help send 'one male applicant from Kearney High School' to the American Legion Boys State.

According to Akin, "This is a record year for applications and we have more than we can financially support. We have 9 boys and 8 girls (for girls state) and we’re looking for sponsors."

Please contact the Chamber office ASAP if you know of a business or organization who would like to sponsor this Kearney student to attend. The cost is $500 and applications have to be in by March 1st to secure a spot. Thanks for your help!!!

How to Get Your Business Information into the Chamber Chat E-Newsletter

The Chamber Chat e-newsletter is published each Friday morning. It is emailed to all

Chamber members and prospects (over 500 individual email addresses), posted on the Chamber website, and social media sites. If you are interested in sponsoring an edition of the Chamber Chat e-newsletter contact Stacie at [email protected] .

Deadlines for article submission: Noon each Thursday.

Who may submit articles and/or photos: The newsletter accepts submissions from any member.

Desired content: Content can be anything newsworthy about your business. Suggestions include:

• New hires or promotions

• Awards won

• New product or service

• Description of services available

• New location or hours

• Special upcoming events or promotions

Format:

All photos and flyers should be jpg files. They can be color or B&W. Articles should be 500 words or less. A short announcement (one to three sentences) is also encouraged. If you’re announcing a new hire or promotion, a portrait photo of the employee is nice to send as well.

IMPORTANT: All text should be in Word document form – NO PDF files, please. Do not embed art, photos, logos etc. into the document. Send them separately as jpg files. Do not use fancy formatting or use special fonts, colors, etc. All your formatting will be stripped out when the newsletter is created. Keep it simple. Don't forget to include social media and web links. The Chamber reserves the right to edit as necessary.

Send electronically to: [email protected] . For hard copies drop them off at the Chamber office and we will scan them.

The Chamber Chat e-newsletter is only as good as the content it receives, and that depends on our members. Don’t be shy – it’s easy, it’s good exposure for your business, and it’s FREE!!

Snow Day

In the case of inclement weather conditions and for the safety of our staff, the Chamber Board has adopted a policy in which the Kearney Chamber office will be closed if and when Kearney public schools decide to close. Chamber phones and email will continue to be monitored.
