Member Announcements & Events
We have come to the unfortunate conclusion that the Fire Fighters Association of Missouri Convention scheduled for July must be cancelled. We are disappointed to have come to this conclusion but the likelihood of restrictions being lifted to make this event possible is slim. The Clay County Public Health order was amended effective June 1 to limit gatherings to 50 people. This phase is expected to last a minimum of 4 weeks which would bring us less than 2 weeks away from the convention. Realistically we could expect a best case scenario at that time of moving to the next phase which would allow 100 people. Putting on this event with those kind of restrictions is just not feasible. We held out as long as we could, hoping things would improve faster but it just didn't turn out that way. We feel we had a great event planned for our members and hope to get another opportunity in the future. We truly appreciate you all. Without the generous support of vendors, sponsors, and the Kearney community, this kind of event would not be possible.
Incoming Superintendent Matthew Miller has developed an entry plan that includes getting to know the KSD staff, students and community. Within the document you can read about his plan to continue learning more about KSD's strengths and areas for growth opportunities.

Updike BBQ's 7th Annual

Updike BBQ & Catering is currently seeking sponsors to help fund meals for the 7th Annual First Responders Appreciation Day. BBQ & food will be provided and delivered to each department in Clay County. If you are interested in supporting this effort, please contact
Lyle Updike at 816-719-0765.
Also, keep an eye out as we are in the planning stages of bringing the Updike BBQ trailer back out! We hope to be in Kearney 1-2 days a week. Proceeds help to support the 7th Annual First Responders BBQ.
