Fight the Flu

This year, protecting yourself from the flu is more important than ever. What are some reasons to get a flu shot?
  • A flu shot can prevent illness, medical office visits and hospitalizations that can put additional strain on health care resources and workers.
  • A flu vaccine is the greatest protection available for those at higher risk for developing serious flu complications: pregnant women, people with a chronic health condition, young children, and adults 65 years and older.
  • While some people who get vaccinated still get sick, flu vaccination has been shown in several studies to reduce the severity of illness.
Everyone six months and older should get a flu vaccine every year. It is recommended to get one in September or October, before flu starts spreading in the community, since it takes about two weeks after vaccination for the antibodies to develop and start providing protection. However, receiving a flu shot at any time during flu season, even as late as January, can still provide valuable protection from illness. Learn more about influenza and the flu vaccine at cdc.gov/flu.

You can receive a flu shot through your primary care physician or at a local pharmacy. Flu vaccination will also be available soon through Clay County Public Health Center. Stay tuned with CCPHC on social media or at clayhealth.com for upcoming flu vaccine clinics offered at the health center and throughout the county.
Your response matters.
Health clinics. Fire departments. Schools. Even roads and highways. The census can shape many different aspects of our community.
It's Not Too Late
You can still complete the census today.
