Spotlight: Pollinator Week

June 18th - 24th

Bee Curious!

During Pollinator Week, we encourage everyone to make observations of pollinators, wildlife and plants they see and upload them into the iNaturalist app under "Grapevine Pollinator Week 2023."

People with the top three most observations will win a free "Beehive Yourself" T-Shirt!

Calling all Worker Bees!

June's Happy to Help Saturday will wrap up our observation of Pollinator Week.

We will work in three locations restoring pollinator habitats by removing invasive plants, sowing seeds and other tasks.

Free bee hotels will be given to volunteers (while supplies last).

T-shirts will be on sale to support the work of Keep Grapevine Beautiful as they restore and create pollinator habitats throughout the community.

Did you know?

  • In 2020 Grapevine’s City Council unanimously voted to become a Bee City USA®, joining many other cities and campuses across the country united in improving their landscapes for pollinators.

  • Beetles, bats, butterflies, birds and even some small mammals help move pollen between plants, allowing them to reproduce.

  • Unfortunately, many pollinators are disappearing due to development, overuse of pesticides and proliferation of pathogens just to name a few.

  • Milkweed, Coneflower, Sweet Alyssum and Lavender are great pollinator friendly plants to plant in your garden!
