It was a love of fast cars and music that led 19-year-old Kurt Scherer to venture north to Canada to attend trade school in Custom Installation and 12 Volt Electronics. There, he honed his skills in the installation of car audio systems. After returning home in the Fall of 1995, he saw a gap in the marketplace for his skill set and decided to start his own company. Like many young ambitious entrepreneurs, he was low on cash flow, but rich with vision—his first “shop” was his grandparent’s garage, and Extreme Audio was born.
In 2000, Kurt took his passion for pure sound a step further, building a sound system in his 1992 Nissan 240SX Competition car. It won first place for sound in a global competition held in Kansas City Missouri. He went on to win again in 2003.
Fast forward twenty years, the Extreme Team has expanded to 18 employees. In 2004 and 2014, additional showrooms opened in Green Bay and Appleton. While initially specializing in car audio sound systems, the company has expanded the breadth of its services into motorcycle, marine, home and business audio, as well as a full lineup of security products such as surveillance cameras and alarm systems. Other signature installation services offered include remote car starters, backup cameras, dash navigation, heated seats, and tinted windows.
