Georgia's Coast is Not an Ashtray

For the sixth consecutive year, Keep McIntosh Beautiful has joined entities in Georgia’s six coastal counties to continue a joint battle against the nation’s number one most littered item: cigarette butts.

THE COASTERS ARE COMING! Our annual Drink Coaster Outreach will be FRIDAY, AUGUST 25, here in McIntosh County! If your restaurant, bar, pub, etc. would like to participate and get free coasters, let us know and we'll deliver them right to you. Please use the provided drink coasters for your patrons on AUGUST 25 and continue to use them as long as your supply lasts. Thanks to your combined efforts, we simultaneously will reach a huge target audience across coastal Georgia with this important educational messaging.

Made of cellulose acetate, a type of plastic, cigarette butts do not easily biodegrade. Discarded butts have a negative impact as land litter, but once blown into storm drains or tossed directly into water sources, this toxic litter becomes marine debris, leaching chemicals into marine and aquatic environments and potentially being ingested by those inhabitants.

KMB has been delivering cigarette litter receptacles to McIntosh County businesses and public areas. We still have more, both freestanding and post styles. Would you like one for your establishment or know a place that needs one? Call us! 912.289.1083 or Email: [email protected]

Last week...

National Night Out (Aug. 1) and

McIntosh County Schools Open Houses (Aug. 3)

KMB had tons of fun connecting with our community at the recent National Night Out! Plenty of snacks and slogans designed to educate our kiddos about ways to Reduce, Reuse & Recycle! Promoted our annual Georgia's Coast is Not an Ashtray campaign by handing out pocket ashtrays for adults to use while in their cars, boats, anywhere. And the Open Houses were great! Handed out info, recycled pencils and seeds, scholarship applications to rising seniors, and much more... WE HOPE EVERYONE HAS AN AMAZING SCHOOL YEAR! Try these Back-to-School Sustainability Swaps...
