Hometown Hero Camp Card Sale

Two weeks ago we launched our “Hometown Hero” Camp Card Sale Program. This program is designed to support our great essential workers and at the same time a great way for our Scouts to sell camp cards.  All Hometown Hero Camp Card sales are done on-line at .

To date, 237 Hometown Hero Camp Cards have been purchased, including 100 by one on-line donor! Our goal is to reach 1,000 Hometown Heroes by the end of May. We’re already 25% of the way there.

Cards purchased will be given out to our Hometown Heroes in August. Be sure to instruct the donor to add the unit and the Scouts name so that they will receive credit and the 50% commission.

Training Challenge
For all you leaders at home this month here is something you can do.

April is Youth Protection Training Month.

So we have two contests this month – one for individual Scouters and one for units

Challenge #1-Individual Scouter
Scouters: Take the on-line Training Challenge during the month of April. The Challenge is open to all volunteer leaders. All of these trainings can be completed online at

Take the following three trainings on-line in April:

  1. Youth Protection Training
  2. Leader Specific Training for your registered position (click on the Requirement tab on My Training on my.Scouting to see what training you need to take).
  3. Hazardous Weather Training

If you are current in one or all three, that’s great. Now is a good time for a refresher. Once you have completed all three trainings in the month of April, Click on the Completions tab on My Training, my.Scouting and take a screen shot or picture of the trainings and completion dates and email your picture to . We will be recognizing volunteers in the weekly newsletter that complete the challenge.

Challenge #2-Units
100% Unit Leaders On-Line Trained.

All of your registered leaders must be current in Youth Protection Training and Leader Specific Training in order to qualify. Your district executive will monitor and track all units that qualify for this recognition.

Advancement During COVID 19

We have gotten lots of questions about advancement during this time. Click on the button below for lots of details on how to handle advancement. There have been many accommodations put in place to ensure that Scouts can still advance.

For Scouts working on the Eagle Rank who may be approaching their 18th birthday: Extensions can be granted past your 18th birthday. We have heard about many projects that were delayed due to closures, or certain merit badges may not be able to be completed due to social distancing guidelines. If you need to request an exentsion please email Brian Porter at There are other considerations you can see at the link below.
