As we honor
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Today, while I remember a great man, I think of the word Persistence.

Whether you are standing up for a cause, building a business or just doing something that you truly enjoy or believe in, persistence is vital to your success.

Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”

I have a favorite quote by Calvin Coolidge which says, "Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and Determination alone are omnipotent."

So, whenever you think you aren't good enough or you don't have what it takes, stop a moment and reflect on what others before you have accomplished, not because they had special powers, but just because they had persistence. Pause to think about what you are doing and why you are doing it.

Remind yourself to hold on. Be persistent. And just keep moving forward.
