September, 2021
Greetings,

I am happy to welcome Fall with the cooler weather it brings and FOOTBALL!

We all have witnessed volatility in the job market since February 2020 and the unemployment rate has reached record highs. As many people anticipate their return to the workplace, we are also seeing a shift in attitude for those who remained active in their work role through the pandemic. Quality of life has become far more important than title, tenure, or even salary.

Read on to find out how you can retain your employees and support their wellbeing.

Low-Charge Ammonia Chiller System Expands Process Cooling Capacity
Wako Chemicals U.S.A. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of FujiFilm. The facility, located in Richmond, Va., specializes in production of antibodies, enzymes, molecular biology, and bio and organic chemicals. During a $35M plant expansion between 2017 and 2018, the facility’s primary R-22 process cooling chiller system was replaced and upgraded.

They saw an opportunity with Midatlantic Refrigeration who represents a number of different manufacturers that supply components for stick-built, field-erected ammonia systems and complete, low-charge packaged ammonia chiller systems. Newman specifies one or the other based on the application, but for Wako’s needs, he gravitated toward an Evapcold LCR-C low charge packaged system made by EVAPCO...Contrary to Freon, ammonia has a 0 GWP (global warming potential) and 0 ODP (ozone depletion potential). The natural refrigerant is future-proof when compared to Freon systems that are gradually being phased across the globe like what just occurred with R-22.

Employees Want Wellbeing From Their Job, and They'll Leave to Find It
The Society for Human Resource Management calls it the "turnover tsunami." Texas A&M Professor Anthony Klotz coined it "the great resignation." Whatever term you use, the recent mass exodus of talent sparked by rebounding economic activity has organizations in a frenzy to keep their best people.

Now more than ever, people are evaluating their lives and how and where they invest their energy -- and they want an employer that supports the lifestyle they aspire to.
