A Year Like No Other
Although the past nine months have challenged all of us, we are finding ways to live in the “new reality.” The next several months will be especially difficult as we face a dramatic surge in COVID-19 cases and further restrictions in our daily lives.

COVID-19 will continue to have a disproportionate impact on the most vulnerable—people of color, people living in poverty and those with underlying medical conditions. The pandemic has further exposed the longstanding inequities caused by structural and systemic racism. The economic impact has been devastating, with families unable to afford food and housing.

The election results also pose significant challenges. The conservative majority in the Supreme Court could have long lasting negative consequences for access to abortion and health care, marriage equality, voting rights and immigration policies. In addition, with Missouri voters approving Amendment 3, we are likely to see continued partisan gerrymandering; and we will be the only state that allows children or immigrants to not be counted as part of our population.

The challenges ahead are daunting. We stand ready to meet them.

We are extremely grateful to our board and committees who have dedicated hundreds of hours to keep our programs going virtually and to provide the information you need to speak up for social justice. Many thanks to our Administrative Manager Laura Rose, whose tireless efforts make it possible for us to carry on virtually. 

Our work is possible because of your financial support. Thanks to our 541 members whose annual dues support our mission and the donors who have contributed to our 2020 annual campaign. 


We hope that you and your family are staying healthy and safe…and we send healing thoughts to those who are affected by COVID-19.

Help Get out the Georgia Vote!
Join Reclaim Our Vote to help get out the vote in Georgia during November and December 2020. Opportunities will include sending postcards, phone banking, and texting for the Georgia Senate runoff election January 5. Early voting starts in Georgia December 14.

Reclaim Our Vote is a campaign organized by the Center for Common Ground in Virginia reaching out to millions of voters of color in voter-suppression states, to make sure they are able to vote in upcoming elections. It is a volunteer-driven, nonpartisan voter outreach campaign to fight voter suppression in various states that have been severely impacted by it, especially in the South.

Urge Senate To Pass COVID-19 Relief Package
"Millions of vulnerable people including children and families continue to struggle to make ends meet during the COVID-19 pandemic. During the lame-duck session, the Senate must address the urgent needs of workers, children and families and prevent the loss of education and other vital services." Deborah Weinstein, Executive Director, Coalition on Human Needs.
