Keeping Connected

Rector's Reflection

Dear Ones of Christ Church,

Blessed Lent to you. The word Lent can be traced back to an Old English word meaning “to lengthen,” and for us in the Northern hemisphere this 40 day season in our Church calendar corresponds with the daylight hours lengthening, the stems of the first crocuses (yes, they are coming!) lengthening. And so we are asked, too, to lengthen and stretch and turn more intentionally toward God, which involves intentionally turning away from the habits that hinder us from loving God, loving ourselves, and loving our neighbors. ...

As we make our way to church this weekend, please be mindful first of safety. If you have concerns about driving or walking in the wintry conditions, please consider worship via livestream.

For those of us attending weekend worship and other activities, please allow for additional travel and parking time, and please read the following information and guidelines:

  • Because of the amount of snow remaining along our roadways, there is limited street parking available on Grant or Lothrop Streets.
  • Please enter the church through the office door, the Lothrop Street sanctuary door (near the lectern), or the upstairs parish hall door.
  • If you are driving and comfortable walking the block up Lothrop street, consider dropping off passengers at the church office door or at the bottom of the driveway on Lothrop Street, and then parking in the public lot at the bottom of Lothrop Street. You will need to walk in the street as the sidewalks on Lothrop are not all cleared.
  • Please only drive one way down our center driveway: enter from Grant Street and drive down to exit on Lothrop Street
