Keeping Connected

Rector's Reflection

Dear Ones of Christ Church,

It was a gift to gather with so many of you last Sunday to bless and make Advent wreaths in the parish hall. Many thanks to Lynne Neeley for her generous donations of materials and time and teaching. Lynne cut the branches for the wreaths herself from evergreens around her home, and after I made a wreath I loved the way my hands smelled sharply and cleanly of pine pitch and sap.

Talking with Lynne about how she had collected wreath branches for us from her neighbor trees reminded me of a reflection my spiritual director sent me last week...

Christmas Toy Drive

As we know, the holidays can be a particularly challenging time for many families in our community. Christ Church will be partnering with the Salvation Army to provide Christmas toys for neighboring families who need our help in ensuring a magical Christmas for their children.

Beginning Sunday, November 30th through Sunday, December 7th, please visit the decorated Christmas tree in the parish hall. Choose a tag/tags that describe a specific toy for you to purchase. Please then deliver your unwrapped gift to the Salvation Army at 52 Long Pond Road in Plymouth. All gifts must be delivered by Thursday, December 11th.

We are grateful for this opportunity to partner with the Salvation Army and thank you for your support and generosity.

From Your Nominating Committee: A Season of Discernment

The Nominating Committee has begun meeting, and while nominations for vestry and other leadership positions will not officially open until January, we invite all parishioners, in this Advent season of making space, to discern whether you might want to offer your gifts as a nominee for vestry, deanery representative, or delegate to convention. One of our committee members may approach you and ask you to pray about being a nominee for a particular role or roles. We will answer any questions you have about these roles and will provide you with information to aid in your discernment. We will share more information as the official nomination season approaches. Thank you for your prayerful consideration!

Your Nominating Committee,

Food Pantry Thanksgiving 2025

Christ Church Food Pantry was pleased to have another successful Thanksgiving dinner distribution on the Monday and Tuesday of Thanksgiving week. Three shifts of five volunteers offered their welcoming smiles, energy and holiday cheer as they provided bags with all the fixings for a Thanksgiving meal to 110 individuals and families. In lieu of turkeys, clients were also given gift cards to local markets, allowing them to purchase the meat or food item of their choice. In total, we served approximately 325 individuals.

Christmas Flowers and Musicians

If you wish to remember or honor a loved one or give in thanksgiving, you may do so by sponsoring the flowers and guest musicians for our Christmas services. The form will be included with the weekend bulletins or you can download it below. In order to have your memorial listed in the Christmas bulletins, please return the form by Sunday, December 21.

Christ Church Thrift Shoppe

At this time of year we’re all taken with the holiday spirit of giving. Even the children in our families want to take part, but it’s hard for them to find gifts that fit their kid-size wallets. The Thrift Shoppe is a perfect place for them to look. A scarf, a tie, a little piece of china or glassware, even a piece of jewelry, could be well within their reach, budget-wise.

And this week, it’s shaping up to be a very merry “Thriftmas” indeed, with everything half-off the normal price (except Christmas-themed items or unless otherwise excluded)!
