Rector's Reflection

Dear Ones of Christ Church,

I am writing this on Thursday, May 14th, the Feast of the Ascension—the day when the risen Jesus ascends to heaven, promising his disciples that he will send the Holy Spirit to them. There are two accounts of the Ascension in Scripture: Luke 24:44-53 and Acts 1:1-11. ...

Pentecost Readers Needed

Every year we invite people who can read a foreign language to participate in

the reading of the gospel. So if you are willing and able to do so, please email Connie at conmel@aol.com or call 508.746.3805. Please indicate which language and for what service(s) you are available for the weekend of May 23/24.

The Poets' Corner

The Poets’ Corner is six 60-minute weekly sessions for people curious about poetry. In each session we discuss an eclectic range of works, three poems by women and men from various cultures and times. At Christ Church we are invited to pay attention to life. Poetry helps us do that, and no question or comment about the selected poems can be wrong. Each session starts after the Sunday 10 AM service. Please bring your name tag and any coffee-hour refreshments to the upstairs conference room. Poems will be provided. Peter Trenouth is your host. The Poets’ Corner starts June 14.

Global Disaster & Humanitarian reality - 2026

Two weeks ago, we hosted a presentation by Bill Schmidt (ret., FEMA) and Paul Bolton (senior scientist, Johns Hopkins; ret.; formerly with USAID). Following the presentation, we asked Bill and Paul to provide a brief written summary of their key talking points to share. You can read the summary at the link below along with sample letters to congress. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Anne McManus annereggiestir@gmail.com or Connie Melahoures conmel@aol.com
