Keeping Connected

Rector's Reflection

Dear Ones of Christ Church,

A few notes about our worship this weekend and in the season ahead:

  • This Saturday May 30th, due to musician travel, our Saturday 5p Eucharist will be a spoken service with no hymns. While we love making a joyful noise together, in our very noisy world, holy silence is a gift, and we will be invited to partake of that gift this Saturday.
  • At our 9a Sunday services, starting this week and through the summer “greening” season after Pentecost, Holy Eucharist will be celebrated from our smaller altar on the floor at the crossing (like it is at the 5p). This summer change will allow all of us to gather more closely together around Christ’s table.

This weekend in both of our services we will celebrate the Holy Trinity. During the homily, I will invite us to spend some time with Andrei Rublev’s icon of the Holy Trinity, above. Before we gather for worship, you may wish to spend some time in prayer with the icon. Click here for a “praying with an icon guide” from the School of Contemplative Life.

Yours in Christ,

Melissa+

Summer Sunday Worship Schedule Changes

Starting May 30, Christ Church will transition to our summer worship schedule. We warmly invite you to join us for our Saturday service of Holy Eucharist at 5pm or Sunday service of Holy Eucharist at 9am.

The Poets' Corner

The Poets’ Corner is six 60-minute weekly sessions for people curious about poetry. In each session we discuss an eclectic range of works, three poems by women and men from various cultures and times. At Christ Church we are invited to pay attention to life. Poetry helps us do that, and no question or comment about the selected poems can be wrong. Each session starts after the Sunday 9 AM service. Please bring your name tag and any coffee-hour refreshments to the upstairs conference room. Poems will be provided. Peter Trenouth is your host. The Poets’ Corner starts June 14.

Sunday June 7th worship conversation after 9a service

Thank you to all who gave feedback about the changes in our Sunday 10a worship. We have now had time to live into those changes together, and Rev. Melissa, Deacon Natalie, Deacon James, and Lea are offering a time after the 9a service on Sunday June 7th, during Lemonade on the Lawn, to talk together with anyone who would like to share more.
